Job Summary
Casual part-time Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) responsible for providing planned, patient-oriented nursing care in a long-term care setting. Responsibilities include developing and updating resident care/service plans, documenting care, administering medications and treatments, coordinating with the interprofessional team, facilitating move-ins/move-outs/transfers, educating residents and families, delegating to unregulated care providers, and contributing to infection prevention and overall quality/safety programs. Requires registration as an RPN, BCLS and First Aid, VPS clearance, strong clinical knowledge, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Based in Ottawa, Ontario, with on-site duties in Extendicare Medex facilities, and operating within a Canadian long-term care context.
Required Qualifications
- Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse in applicable Province/State
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification
- Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening (VPS) within 6 months
- Experience working in a senior's environment and with unregulated care providers preferred
- Computer proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office applications
- Demonstrated sound clinical knowledge
- Strong written and oral communication, critical thinking, care coordination, time management and customer focus skills
