Job Summary
Implement AgeCare policies and procedures in collaboration with the Registered Nurse while directing Personal Support Workers on resident care. Liaise with physicians and external health care partners, providing immediate notification of significant resident status changes when the Registered Nurse is absent. Participate in shift reports to ensure all team members are informed of resident updates and work with the care team to meet residents' needs. Provide input into the revision of unit procedures. Requires a current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario and knowledge of relevant provincial statutes. Required Qualifications
- A sound knowledge and background in geriatric, rehabilitation or long-term care nursing including activation, nursing, and personnel administration
- Knowledge of the Fixing Long-Term Care Act and Regulations
- Knowledge of the appropriate sections of the Health Disciplines Act
- Knowledge of the Occupation Health and Safety Act
- Knowledge of the Pharmacy Act
- Knowledge of the Food and Drugs Act (Canada)
- Knowledge of the Controlled Substances Act (Canada)
- Knowledge of the Health Promotion and Protection Act
- Knowledge of the Personal Health Protection Act
- Knowledge of the Coroners Act
- Knowledge of the College of Nurses of Ontario Standards of Practice
- Knowledge of other pertinent Federal, Provincial and Municipal Statues which influence the operation of the Nursing Home and more specifically the nursing department
- A current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Being a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
