Job Summary
Registered Practical Nurse in the South 4 Progressive and Geriatric Rehabilitation Unit providing nursing care within an interprofessional team. Plan, manage, and evaluate patient care within the RPN scope, participate in inter-professional rounds and conferences, mentor students and new staff, contribute to unit and hospital-wide initiatives, educate patients and families about rehab nursing, ensure patient safety, and support ongoing professional development and adherence to standards and legislation. Requires a nursing diploma, current medication certificate, BCLS, English proficiency, strong communication and leadership skills, and commitment to patient-centered care in a teaching hospital setting.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma preparation as an RPN in a recognized education program for Nursing
- Current medication certificate (if not included in diploma program)
- Medical asepsis preferred (if not included in diploma program)
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (C level) Heart Saver Plus (Canada)
- Member, RPNAO preferred
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to impart knowledge to students
- Good knowledge of nursing standards and applicable healthcare legislation
- Proficient in English
- Ability to demonstrate strong health assessment skills
- Experience in Complex Continuing Care preferred
- Well developed clinical decision-making skills
- Able to use computer software such as word, email and web applications
- Good attendance
