Job Summary
Direct nursing care to psychiatric inpatients in the Mental Health Inpatient Unit, delivering medication administration and comprehensive nursing interventions under the direction of the interprofessional care team. Focus on patient-centred, recovery-oriented, trauma-informed approaches, with strong communication and teamwork to support safety and quality improvement. Requires active RN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, medications administration competence, NVCI/CPR/First Aid, and experience caring for individuals with serious mental illness; asset considerations include psychiatric nursing components and crisis/suicide intervention training. Flexible shifts (days/evenings/nights/weekends) and ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
Required Qualifications
- A Registered Practical Nurse currently registered with College of Nurses
- Successful completion of an approved Medications Administration Course consistent with the Standard of the College of Nursing of Ontario
- Minimum of three years’ experience in working with people who have been diagnosed with a serious mental illness
- Completion of the psychiatric nursing component, crisis intervention and suicide intervention courses would be considered an asset
- Current NVCI, CPR and First Aid
