Job Summary
Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in Cardiology Unit at Osler with responsibilities including safe nursing practice, patient-centered care, infection control, emergency response, patient and family health teaching, and cross-department collaboration. Requires recent cardiology experience (within 5 years) and minimum 2 years acute medicine experience, with demonstrated ECG and rhythm interpretation, and cardiology-specific assessments and examinations. Willingness to travel between Osler sites and work various shifts including days/nights, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Current registration, and in good standing, with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification
- Medication Administration certificate and patient assessment course required for RPNs graduating prior to 2005
- Demonstrated experience with 12 lead ECG and rhythm interpretation within the last two years
- Experience in care of patients with enteral feeds, IV therapy, wound care and isolation within the last two years (preferred)
- Coronary Care 1 required
- Must pass arrhythmia interview quiz obtaining 80% to move onto the interview phase
- Must pass cardiology challenge exam obtaining 80% within 30 days of hire
- Demonstrated leadership and facilitation skills
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an inter-professional team
- Excellent attendance and punctuality
- Ability to prioritize patient care needs and make autonomous decisions
- Knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- May be required to travel and work between all Osler sites
