Job Summary
Provides nursing care in a long-term care setting for residents/clients, including comprehensive assessments, care planning, medication administration (e.g., insulin), wound care and dressings, monitoring of vital signs, infection prevention, and collaboration with an interprofessional team to support person-centred care and residents’ overall well-being. Responsibilities include documenting observations in health care records, educating residents and families, coordinating with physicians and health services, coordinating appointments and transportation, leading behavioural management and rounds as required, and supporting rehabilitation and activation programs while upholding dementia care and responsive-behaviour strategies. Requires excellent communication, critical thinking, problem solving, and the ability to coach and lead staff in a fast-paced LTC environment.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Experience working in a long-term care environment, mental health, or geriatric populations.
- Experience working in a specialized behavioural program or populations with responsive behaviours or completed behavioural management training.
