Job Summary

Conduct patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and administer treatments within the Emergency Department framework. Perform activities of daily living assistance, provide patient and family education, and document changes in patient status using the Three Factor Framework. Manage full scope of practice for patient care while demonstrating professional responsibility and psychosocial skills for supportive emotional care across diverse cultural backgrounds. This role requires a Registered Practical Nurse with a diploma and one year of recent hospital experience, including I.V. training and cardiac arrhythmia certification. Candidates must work rotating days, nights, weekends, and holidays in 12-hour shifts. Required Qualifications

  • College of Nurses of Ontario Certificate of Registration in good standing
  • RPN Diploma or equivalent
  • Current CPR certificate
  • Medication administration
  • Excellent physical assessment skills
  • Minimum of one-year recent medical/surgical/mental health experience within a hospital setting
  • Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia certificate
  • Demonstrated evidence of ongoing professional education in related clinical area
  • Demonstrated knowledge of discharge planning and appropriate use of community resources
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a patient centered, multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) problem-solving and negotiating skills
  • I.V. trained and certified or willing to obtain within 3 months of hire
  • Demonstrated familiarity with monitoring patients receiving blood products
  • Demonstrated psychosocial skills and relevant experience with offering supportive emotional care to the patient and their family/significant others from all cultural backgrounds
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
  • All required doses of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by Health Canada
  • Applicable criminal record check
