Job Summary
As a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in the Emergency Department, you will work closely with Physicians to provide care to lower-acuity emergency patients within a fast-paced, patient/family–centered environment. The role emphasizes strong clinical and teaching skills, effective communication, and collaboration within an interprofessional team. You will apply evidence-based nursing care, support patient education, perform minor procedures as needed (e.g., suture removal, dressing changes), and contribute to a safe, quality-driven patient experience. The position requires current nursing registration, BLS certification, ED experience, and a willingness to obtain Coronary Care 1 or equivalent within 6 months of hire; immunization and RPNAO-related credentials are considered assets. Excellent critical thinking, organization, and teaching abilities are essential, along with a commitment to equity and safe workplace practices.
Required Qualifications
- Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses
- BLS
- Emergency Department experience
- Completion of an accredited college Coronary Care 1 program or proof of demonstrated current enrollment or equivalent or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Td immunizations is an asset
- Medication Certificate RPNAO membership is preferred
- Excellent physical assessment skills
- Proficient computer skills
- Demonstrated commitment to patient/family centred care and interprofessional teamwork
- Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these standards
