Job Summary
The Toronto Rehab Institute is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) for Complex Continuing Care/Transitional Care/Low Intensity Rehabilitation. The RPN will plan, manage, and evaluate nursing care for patients and families within an interdisciplinary team; participate in inter-professional rounds and family conferences; mentor students and new staff; contribute to program and hospital initiatives; uphold patient safety policies; maintain professional standards with the College of Nurses of Ontario; and support ongoing professional development. Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (C level) and active membership in RPNAO are preferred. The role is a casual contract located at the North 5 unit across Toronto Rehab sites, with shifts including days, evenings, and nights, and requires English proficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma preparation as an RPN in a recognized education program for Nursing preferred
- Current medication certificate (if not included in diploma program)
- Medical asepsis preferred (if not included in diploma program)
- Experience in Complex Continuing Care preferred
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (C level) Heart Saver Plus (Canada)
- Member, RPNAO preferred
- English proficiency
- Recent health assessment course
- Good attendance requirement
- Good knowledge of standards of nursing practice and health care legislation
- Proficiency with computer software (word, email, web applications) or willingness to pursue training
