Provides professional nursing care to residents under the direction of the Registered Nurse, collaborating with the health-care team to implement AgeCare policies and procedures. Offers input into procedures, liaises with physicians, and directs Personal Support Workers on the care team. Participates in shift reports to inform the team of changes in resident status and ensures residents’ care needs are met. Maintains knowledge of geriatric/long-term care nursing practices and adheres to applicable acts and standards (e.g., College of Nurses of Ontario Standards of Practice, Health Act provisions). Demonstrates the ability to support care planning, communication with residents and families, and professional accountability within the nursing home setting.
