Job Summary
Accept new prescriptions or refill requests from patients, evaluating information for completeness and accuracy. Process medications through various insurances, count drugs, fill prescriptions, and attach labels while greeting patients at the Point of Sale. Adhere to State and Federal regulations, maintain HIPAA compliance, and restock shelves or check inventory for outdated medications. Coordinate prescription orders for shipment, assist in training new technicians, and answer telephone calls professionally. Work collaboratively with administration and clinical teams to provide quality care, making recommendations to improve methods and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Pharmacy Technician Trainee license, Registered Pharmacy Technician License or National Pharmacy Certification
- current Basic Life Support Certification
- 1-3 years pharmacy or related experience
- flexibility to work different schedules
- detailed knowledge of OTC drugs and laws governing OTC medications
- competent working knowledge of insurance plans
- thorough knowledge of the Pharmacy Technician Procedures
- ability to work in fast-paced environment and troubleshoot and solve problems
- detailed knowledge of OTC drugs and laws governing OTC medications
- demonstrated strong verbal and written communications and customer service skills
- organization and ability to prioritize tasks and be detail oriented
- Computer literate with intermediate skills in Microsoft Office 365: Excel, Word and Outlook
Desired Qualifications
- 1-3 years pharmacy or related experience, preferably in outpatient clinic pharmacy services or retail pharmacy preferred
- Bilingual a plus! (English and Vietnamese, Spanish or Portuguese) as dictated by health center need
