Job Summary
Perform initial health screenings, monitor vital signs, and manage acute and chronic conditions for detained individuals. Provide direct patient care, triage, and coordinate services while responding to medical emergencies and administering medications. Educate patients on preventative care and substance abuse prevention, ensuring adherence to correctional facility security protocols. Maintain accurate medical records and document treatment plans. Requires a current CO RN license, BLS CPR certification, and ability to work weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse within the CO
- Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association required)
- Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Able to work independently and in a team
- Flexible schedule and availability to work overtime when needed
- Integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
- Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift
