Job Summary
Registered Nurse in the Women & Child / Surgical Unit providing quality patient care under supervision, maintaining competence through ongoing education, and participating in unit and hospital-wide quality initiatives. Requires OB/postpartum and newborn nursery experience, IV and BCLS, and computer-literate nursing practice with strong teaching and interpersonal skills; flexible shifts and on-call responsibilities with understanding of medical-surgical nursing concepts and medication administration. Office of the Ontario nursing standards are cited, with ACLS preferred. The role emphasizes teamwork, risk reduction, and adherence to nursing standards.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (BScN) and current member in good standing of the Ontario College of Nurses of Ontario
- 2 years of Caseroom and post-partum experience
- Minimum Medical/Surgical Nursing experience
- IV and BCLS certification required and maintained throughout employment
- Previous obstetrical experience in labor and delivery unit, experience in Newborn Nursery
- Case Room Training required & have recent birthing RN experience within last 12 months
- Current F.H.S.L., N.R.P. and B.C.L.S and maintained throughout employment
- ACLS certification preferred
- Computer literacy mandatory
- Teaching experience would be an asset
- Successful completion of an approved Medications Administration Course consistent with the Standard of the College of Nurses of Ontario. Able to demonstrate recent experience in the administration of medications
