Job Summary
Registered Nurse in a juvenile corrections detention center providing assessments, triage, treatments, medication administration, and facilitating continuity of care by coordinating referrals; perform intake screenings and health evaluations for newly admitted youth; monitor vital signs and treatment responses; interpret abnormal test values and perform EKGs as indicated; respond to medical emergencies and provide crisis intervention; collaborate with physicians, APNs, behavioral health, and detention staff for care coordination; educate youth on health, hygiene, and wellness; ensure ACA/PREA compliance; maintain medical records; uphold infection control in a high-risk secure setting; strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills; BSN preferred with ADN/ASN considered; Delaware RN license and BLS required; 12-hour day shifts on a 72-hour biweekly schedule with weekends/holidays rotating.
Required Qualifications
- Current Delaware RN license
- BSN preferred; ADN/ASN considered with 3-year BSN completion agreement
- BLS certification
- Experience with adolescents who have endured complex trauma, pediatrics, psychiatric nursing, community health, emergency care and/or correctional setting encouraged.
