Job Summary
Provide total patient care including personal assistance (ADLs) for complex medical needs such as dialysis, dementia, palliation, TBI, and oncology. Conduct strong physical assessments, manage airways (tracheostomy, CPAP, BiPAP), and place central venous catheters (CVC, Hickman, PICC). Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to support patient-focused care principles while resolving conflicts and communicating effectively with families and primary caregivers. Requires current Ontario registration, B.C.L.S., and physical assessment skills.
Required Qualifications
- Current Ontario Registration
- Current B.C.L.S.
- Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) or PEICES certification
- Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills with the multidisciplinary team, patient family members and/or primary care givers
- Strong physical assessment skills
- Ability to function in an interdisciplinary setting as a primary nurse
- Excellent assessment skills
- Team-player
- Airway Management (Tracheostomy, CPAP, BiPAP)
- Central Venous Catheters (CVC) e.g. Hickman, PICC
Desired Qualifications
- Dialysis certificate preferred or in progress (Hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis)
- Oncology experience preferred (chemotherapy)
- Palliative care experience preferred
