Job Summary
Coordinate nursing and other services for residents within the neighbourhood and with external services. Lead shift reports with the healthcare team to ensure all members are informed of changes in residents' status. Review and process physician orders promptly, documenting significant condition changes in the residents' chart according to AgeCare policies and provincial standards. Immediately communicate any difficulties in processing orders to the Director of Care. This role supports the delivery of resident care within a home-like atmosphere across AgeCare's 50 communities, fostering a culture of safety, respect, and teamwork for seniors and their families.
Required Qualifications
- Sound knowledge and background in geriatric, rehabilitation or long-term care nursing
- Activation, nursing, and personnel administration
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Knowledge of the Fixing Long-Term Care Act and Regulations
- Knowledge of the appropriate sections of the Health Disciplines Act
- Knowledge of the Occupation Health and Safety Act
- Knowledge of the Pharmacy Act
- Knowledge of the Food and Drugs Act (Canada)
- Knowledge of the Controlled Substances Act (Canada)
- Knowledge of the Health Promotion and Protection Act
- Knowledge of the Personal Health Protection Act
- Knowledge of the Coroners Act
- Knowledge of Provincial College of Nurses and Standards of Practice
- Knowledge of other pertinent Federal, Provincial and Municipal Statues which influence the operation of the Nursing Home and more specifically the nursing department
- Registration and membership in good standing with provincial registry
- Level of competency required to provide safe and ethical professional nursing services
