Registered Nurse (TFT 1.0 FTE)

Job Summary
Conduct intensive support for adults aged 18-64 with complex schizophrenia-related conditions within the Integrated Schizophrenia Recovery Program. Facilitate client recovery and safe community reintegration following referrals from healthcare providers. Apply psychiatric nursing practice standards, manage physical and medical complications related to mental health and addictions, and utilize psychosocial rehabilitation techniques. Demonstrate leadership in rapidly changing situations while maintaining effective communication with diverse individuals and communities. Maintain current College of Nurses of Ontario registration, CPR certification, and continuing professional education.
Required Qualifications
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Up to 3 months Nursing Experience
- Knowledge of mental health/addiction issues
- Clear understanding of MHA and relevant legislation
- Able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in psychiatric nursing practice as articulated in the Canadian Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Practice
- Able to meet the standards of nursing practice of the College of Nurses
- CPR certification within the last 12 months (BCLS at a minimum)
- Evidence of continuing professional education
- Effective verbal and written communications skills
- Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Problem solving, leadership and management skills in responding to complex and rapidly changing situations
- Sensitivity, skills and experience working with diverse individuals and communities
- English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension and written expression
- Referrals from healthcare providers
Desired Qualifications
- BScN
- Certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing
- Experience in Mental Health and/or addictions
- Membership and active participation in a professional nursing organization (RNAO)
- Previous experience working in Community Mental Health
- Knowledge of Community Resources
- Knowledge and application of illness management recovery principles
- Experience in Psychosocial Rehabilitation Techniques
- Bilingual (French/English)
