Job Summary
Registered Nurse TeleNurse role focusing on triaging incoming patient calls and delivering leadership within the department. Responsibilities include applying the nursing process during triage, clear verbal communication of phone advice, identifying life-threatening emergencies and coordinating appropriate interventions, knowledge of disease processes for telephone-based assessments, data entry of call information, prioritizing tasks and resources, delegating and managing acuity of calls and staff duties, guiding callers to appropriate care (ER, office visit, self-care), scheduling in the scheduling system, using resources to inform care plans, counseling and educating patients per guidelines, maintaining confidentiality and documentation per guidelines, and maintaining knowledge through ongoing education. Schedule requires weekend work with potential for remote work; RN license in Illinois and a minimum of three years of clinical experience are required.
Required Qualifications
- RN License
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current Illinois RN licensure
- Minimum of three years of clinical experience in acute ambulatory or acute care setting
- Experience in ER, Home Health preferred
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: typing, computer skills, 40 wpm, telephone communication
- Resides within 100 mile radius of Springfield, IL
- Confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
- Ability to work every other weekend and 4-5 out of 9 holidays
- Ability to schedule patient appointments in scheduling system
- Ability to communicate effectively via telephone
- Demonstrates ability to triage and refer to appropriate level of care
