Job Summary
Registered Nurse in Surgical, Full-Time Night shift (7p-7a) in North Carolina. Provides professional nursing care and makes nursing care decisions appropriate for the age and condition of patients using the nursing process. Collaborates with other health care professionals to meet patient needs. Adheres to CVMC policies, procedures, and philosophy and to the North Carolina State Nurse Practice Act and CVMC Nursing Bylaws. Requires graduation from an accredited nursing program and current NC RN licensure or licensure from a Nursing Compact State, plus BCLS certification. Additional area-specific certifications are required within defined timeframes (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, and related certifications for specialties such as Birthing Center, Critical Care, Emergency Dept., Oncology, Infusion Center, Radiology, PACU, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, etc.). Preferred: BSN and specialty coursework/certifications. No prior experience required beyond unit-specific prerequisites; some units require prior monitoring or credentialing experience. Evening/night schedule noted; shift is 7p-7a. CVMC Nursing Bylaws and practice-area requirements apply.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited nursing program
- Current NC RN license or licensure from Nursing Compact State
- BCLS certification. If the BCLS certification is not from the American Heart Association (AHA), an AHA certification is required within three months of employment date
- ACLS within respective timelines by Practice Area (e.g., Certified in ACLS for areas like Critical Care, PACU, etc.)
- NRP within timeline for Newborn/Nursery as applicable
- PALS within timeline for Pediatrics and related units
- Oncology/Immunotherapy certification timelines for Infusion Center
- Chemotherapy certification via ONS/ONCC for Oncology/Infusion roles
- Radiation Oncology certification as required
- STABLE certification where specified
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification where specified
- BSN preferred or enrollment in BSN programs
- No previous experience required except as listed per unit requirements
- Ability to assume call responsibilities within three months
- Work experience requirements by unit (Heart and Vascular, Critical Care, PACU, etc.)
