Job Summary
Responsible and accountable for a group of patients during a designated time frame, providing care via the nursing process, therapeutic use of self, and coordination with the health care team. Plan and direct care for every patient undergoing operative and invasive procedures, while directing and supervising surgical team members. Maintain in-house availability within 30 minutes when on call for weekends, nights, and holidays. Requires current LA RN license, BLS, and ALS certifications, with one year of surgery RN experience.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from a NLN accredited school of nursing
- current LA RN license
- BLS required or obtained during orientation
- ALS required within 6 months of hire
- able to work flexible shifts and take call according to unit specific standards
- One year Surgery RN experience
- Must possess good physical health
- standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time
- Lifting at least 50 pounds
- Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise
- Must be available in-house within 30 minutes when on call
- Current BLS and ALS (Advanced Life Support) certifications through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross
- The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off
Desired Qualifications
- Two years' Surgery RN experience
- Acute Care facility experience
