Job Summary

Direct care to residents as needed in accordance with care plan policies, procedures, and guidelines, while supervising daily nursing activities performed by LPNs, MACs, and CNAs. Provide resident care including assessments, care planning, treatments, medications, and interventions, documenting responses consistent with applicable regulations. Communicate with physicians, the Director of Nursing, and other staff regarding resident status, new admissions, and shift occurrences, reporting conditions and occurrences to oncoming staff. Make rounds with physicians as necessary, review and transcribe physician orders to ensure execution, and complete medication pass audits and counts. Meet with residents and family members as needed, report problem areas to the Supervisor, and complete required forms, communication records, and reports. Coordinate resident activities with other staff and departments, inform staff of new admissions, and report all discrepancies, problems, and issues regarding resident care to the Director of Nursing or Assistant Director of Nursing.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse – RN by the State of Alabama
  • Current, unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in this state
  • Current CPR certification
  • Computer skills and the ability to become proficient with appropriate software
  • The ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
  • Must be able to move about intermittently throughout the workday
  • Must be able to reach, bend, and/or stoop intermittently throughout the work day
  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met
  • Must be able to push, pull, or move a minimum of 100 pounds utilizing proper body mechanics and assistance
  • Must be able to walk/stand 75% of the day
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position

Desired Qualifications

  • One (1) year experience in a skilled nursing facility
