Job Summary
Oversee daily Trauma Registry operations by directing workflow, supervising five registrars, and ensuring accurate abstraction, ICD-10 coding, and report generation. Maintain data integrity through concurrent audits, validate entries, and prepare performance improvement reports for the Trauma Service, JCAHO, and national registries. Lead Quality Improvement Program participation, facilitate ACS-mandated training, and coordinate staff scheduling to ensure continuous coverage. Collaborate with clinical teams to analyze trends, support research requests, and represent the program at state and national meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Knowledge and proficiency in medical terminology
- Knowledge and proficiency in anatomy
- Current Commonwealth of Massachusetts Registered Nurse License
- Certified Specialist in Trauma Registry Certification-CSTR
- Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist certification-CAISS
- Completion of The American Trauma Society's Trauma Registry Course or equivalent provided by a state trauma program
- Completion of The Association of the Advancement of Automotive Medicine's Injury Scaling (AAIS) Course
- Experience with ICD-10-CM inpatient coding
- Proficiency in ICD-10
- Proficiency in AAAM coding
- Proficiency in AIS/ISS scoring
- Proficiency in TRISS scoring
- Proficiency in PowerPoint
- Proficiency in Excel
- Proficiency in Word
- Proficiency in Access
- Advanced medical terminology knowledge
- Advanced anatomy and physiology knowledge
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Demonstrated computer skills
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to multitask with prioritizing and meeting deadlines
- Knowledge of how errors impact users; database; and application
