Job Summary
Respond immediately to Code Stroke Alerts in the ER and in-house to perform assessments and expedite life-saving diagnostics and treatments. Act as the primary coordinator across disciplines, ensuring labs, scans, and medications are administered with urgency. During downtime, round on floors to support bedside nurses, assist with complex charting, and serve as a real-time clinical resource. Guide patients and families through stroke diagnosis complexities and collaborate with the Stroke Team to lead discharge planning for seamless transitions. Requires a licensed Registered Nurse from Kansas with at least two years of ICU experience and BLS/ALS certification. Full-time days schedule from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Via Christi St. Francis within the Ascension nonprofit Catholic health system.
Required Qualifications
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted for BLS Provider
- Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted for Advanced Life Support
- Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Kansas Board of Nursing
- Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing
- Professional licensure at time of hire
Desired Qualifications
- At least 2 years of Registered Nurse ICU experience
- Neuro/Stroke Critical Care background
- Emergency Department background
- A genuine passion for staff development and patient education
- Comfortable teaching at the bedside
- Helping bedside nurses level up their skills
- The ability to work seamlessly within a multidisciplinary team
