Job Summary
Coordinate nursing and other services for residents within the neighbourhood and residence. Lead shift reports with the health care team, ensuring all members are informed of changes in residents' status. Record significant changes in residents' condition and ensure chart documentation adheres to AgeCare policies, the Provincial College of Nurses and Standards of Practice, and relevant federal and provincial statutes. Review and process physician orders as per procedure, communicating difficulties immediately to the Director of Care or Assistant Director of Care. This Registered Nurse role supports the delivery of resident care to meet individual needs within the scope of competency, fostering a culture of safety and freedom from harm. Required Qualifications
- Sound knowledge and background in geriatric, rehabilitation or long-term care nursing including activation, nursing, and personnel administration
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Knowledge of the Fixing Long-Term Care Act and Regulations
- Knowledge of the appropriate sections of the Health Disciplines Act
- Knowledge of the Occupation Health and Safety Act
- Knowledge of the Pharmacy Act
- Knowledge of the Food and Drugs Act (Canada)
- Knowledge of the Controlled Substances Act (Canada)
- Knowledge of the Health Promotion and Protection Act
- Knowledge of the Personal Health Protection Act
- Knowledge of the Coroners Act
- Knowledge of Provincial College of Nurses and Standards of Practice
- Knowledge of other pertinent Federal, Provincial and Municipal Statues which influence the operation of the Nursing Home and more specifically the nursing department
- Registration and membership in good standing with provincial registry
