Job Summary
Conduct thorough patient assessments, design personalized care plans, and administer medications while monitoring vital signs and responding to clinical changes. Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams, educate patients and families on health conditions and post-discharge management, and document all interventions per regulatory standards. Maintain Basic Life Support certification and obtain area-specific certifications such as ACLS, PALS, or NRP within required timelines. Work in a 525-bed tertiary care facility serving as a Level I Adult Trauma Center and primary teaching hospital for Eastern Virginia Medical School.
Required Qualifications
- Basic Life Support within 90 days of hire
- Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of hire
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS)/Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) or Sentara approved course
- Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Card within 6 months of hire
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification (NRP) within 6 months of hire
- Sound clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by clinical area(s)
- Sound knowledge and understanding of routine nursing procedures and RN and LPN scope of practice
- Competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process
