Job Summary
Per-diem Registered Nurse in Metairie, LA providing in-hospital pre- and post-operative care. Performs final health checks (vital signs, allergies, fasting status), verifies consent forms, and prepares patients for surgery; closely monitors patients emerging from anesthesia, manages pain and post-operative nausea; assists with mobility to discharge; delivers comprehensive aftercare instructions for wound management, medications, and red-flag symptoms; inserts/removes IV cannulas and administers prescribed medications including IV fluids, antibiotics, and analgesia. Shifts run 7:00 am–7:30 pm CDT and 7:00 pm–7:30 am CDT; strong collaboration with healthcare team in a dynamic, supportive environment.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited program
- Licensure: Active, unencumbered RN license from the state of LA and current BLS Certification
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of RN work experience
- Soft Skills: Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, effective communication, cultural competency, collaboration, adaptability, and a positive attitude
