Job Summary
Perform and document comprehensive patient assessments covering biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, spiritual, and environmental needs for pediatric and adult patients requiring vascular access. Analyze clinical situations, anticipate complications, and re-prioritize care plans based on changing patient status while communicating updates to the medical record. Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and conferences, assist families in implementing care plans, and evaluate learning needs prior to education. Administer medications and treatments timely, demonstrate effective interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and visitors, and contribute to unit performance improvement initiatives. Requires critical care experience, full-time night shifts (9p–7a), and Texas licensure.
Required Qualifications
- Full-time nights (10hr shifts - 9p-7a)
- Bachelor's degree in nursing
- Current licensure with the Board of Nursing for the State of Texas or Nurse Licensure Compact
- BLS certification
- 9 months of professional nursing
- Positive and appropriate interpersonal skills
- Good time and resource management skills
- Flexibility
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of central line care and IV insertion
- Knowledge of the nursing process
- Critical thinking skills
- Interdisciplinary collaboration
- Respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards
