Job Summary
RN role providing direct nursing care to adult incarcerated patients at Doña Ana County Detention Center. Responsibilities include sick calls, intake screenings, medication administration, chronic care support, nursing assessments and triage within RN scope, safe medication administration per policy, responding to medical emergencies, accurate EMR documentation, MAT support as applicable, infection control and safety protocols, and collaboration with providers, custody staff, mental health, and leadership. Requires active NM RN license, 1+ year relevant nursing experience, and BLS (ACLS preferred); emphasizes independent work in a secured correctional setting and adherence to NCCHC/NMAC standards.
Required Qualifications
- Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New Mexico
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience (correctional, emergency, med-surg, or community health experience preferred)
- Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred)
- Strong assessment, documentation, and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work independently in a secure environment
- Comfortable working in a correctional setting with a diverse patient population
