Job Summary
Provide medical oversight and direct support to individuals in residential and day programs, acting as a liaison to community physicians. Conduct random skill assessments of Licensed Practical Nurses, inspect medication documentation, and train Support Staff on care protocols for acute and chronic conditions. Maintain medical records, including T-logs and allergy lists, while entering pertinent updates into Therap to keep the team informed. Review nursing notes weekly, address significant changes in wellbeing, and coordinate medical appointments as needed. Visit assigned residences at least once weekly to ensure compliance with NYS Nurse Practice Act and OPWDD regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed and registered with NYS Education Department as a Registered Professional Nurse
- Valid/acceptable NYS Driver's License
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Experience with the developmentally disabled preferred
- BLS Certification
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
- Regularly required to talk or hear
- Frequently required to stand; walk; lift; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms
- Work may require lifting, pushing, or pulling in excess of 30 pounds
