Job Summary

Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments, administer medications, and coordinate laboratory and pharmacy orders to ensure client safety and therapeutic progress. Document observations, vital signs, and treatment plans in the electronic charting system while managing controlled substances and infection control protocols. Collaborate with the medical team, direct care staff, and external vendors to facilitate admissions, transfers, and discharges. Perform suicide risk assessments, EKGs, and physical exams as needed within a behavioral health setting.

Required Qualifications

  • Current RN license within the state of Virginia
  • Valid driver's license
  • Acceptable driving record
  • Clearance of criminal background
  • TB test
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school
  • Ability to move twenty-five pounds
  • Ability to communicate with peers, clients and/or vendors
  • Ability to move throughout the building
  • Ability to participate in activities outdoors and off facility grounds
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to sit or remain stationary for periods of time
  • Ability to talk or hear
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Ability to taste, or smell
  • Ability to assess suicide/homicide risk and create clinically appropriate interventions
  • Understanding of identifying abuse/neglect in client population
  • Ability to chart vitals, daily assessments, group notes, shift notes, and enters physician orders
  • Ability to perform physical assessments including vital signs and to recognize symptoms and distress of clients in treatment
  • Ability to perform an EKG and sends to the appropriate medical team
  • Ability to administer medications
  • Ability to properly complete the admission and discharge process
  • Ability to perform venipuncture and maintain universal precautions while collecting blood
  • Ability to schedule lab pick-up and upload results in chart
  • Clinical knowledge of specialized treatment; including established behavioral patterns (including age-related issues), therapeutic treatment methods and dietary/nutritional needs
  • Ability to move throughout the building as well as participate in activities outdoors and off facility grounds
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to sit or remain stationary for periods of time
  • Ability to talk or hear, sit, stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste, or smell

  • Previous experience in a behavioral healthcare setting
