Job Summary

Provide nursing care based on physician and provider orders to meet the physical, mental, and emotional needs of Veteran patients. Supervise support staff, medical assistants, and licensed practical nurses in delivering care, while performing triage activities for walk-in patients and medical inquiries. Administer medications, perform procedures such as dressing changes and venipunctures, and assist providers with examination preparation. Document all patient information in VISTA and maintain accurate clinic reminder tracking systems. Manage day-to-day CBOC operations, ensure infection control practices, and participate in PACT team huddles and performance improvement programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Three years of experience in Medical Surgical Unit, Outpatient Facility, Primary Care and/ or Adult Health preferred
  • Retain current and unrestricted nursing license in Idaho
  • Retain current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/ Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network (MTN)
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply professional nursing principles, procedures, and techniques
  • Ability to assess patient condition, recognize adverse signs and symptoms, and react swiftly in emergency situations
  • Ability to set realistic, measurable education goals for patients, taking into consideration patient/family needs, level of understanding and available local resources
  • Ability to develop and provide individualized and group counseling, guidance, and health instruction with the focus on disease prevention and health maintenance
  • Ability to teach patients and/or families proper home health care activities, such as giving injections, taking blood pressures, changing wound dressings, etc
  • Knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment, including desired effects, side effects, complications, and patient usage considerations
  • Demonstrate knowledge of age-specific customer service techniques with exceptional verbal, written, and telephone communication skills
  • Adept at handling difficult situations with diplomacy and professionalism to ensure a positive customer experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Software, Electronic Medical Records and computer maneuverability
  • Knowledge of pharmacology
  • Must be detailed oriented and have the ability to multi-task
  • RN graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate state-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Preferred
