Job Summary
Direct and coordinate nursing care for assigned patients using the nursing process, including comprehensive assessments, care planning, and discharge teaching. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to improve quality of care, participate in performance improvement activities, and assist leadership in defining standards of excellence. Coordinate multidisciplinary services as a case manager when assigned, orient new staff, and serve as a point of contact for departmental policies. Provide input on unit needs and participate in unit, departmental, and hospital committees to formulate nursing procedures. Perform essential functions at Mary Washington Hospital and Stafford Hospital locations as scheduled.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- experience as a Registered Nurse
- Valid RN License from Virginia or reciprocal compact state
- AHA BLS Provider CPR
- NIHSS (Bluecloud)
- 2 years of recent RN acute care experience
- ability to lift 35 lbs.
- ability to push and pull 20 lbs.
- auditory and visual skills to include color determination
- ability to work in confined spaces
- ability to reach above/overhead
- Possesses critical thinking and analytical skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team
- Capacity to cope with difficult situations
- Ability to tolerate irregular hours including evenings, nights, and weekends
- must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment
