Job Summary
Provide perioperative nursing care in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit on a per-diem basis. Performs the nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation; collaborates with physicians and the health-care team to coordinate procedures and treatments; demonstrates leadership and clinical judgment in directing patient care on the unit. Responsible for interviewing patients, reviewing charts, assessing gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal and neurological status, managing pain, documenting care plans and outcomes, coordinating discharge planning, and ensuring patient safety. Requires current New York RN licensure and a BSN-focused pathway with the expectation to obtain a BSN within five years; 2+ years ICU experience (transplant/CRRT strongly preferred). This role involves patient and family education, documentation, and collaboration with the care team to optimize patient outcomes in a per diem capacity.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred
- Must be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two (2) years and obtain a BSN Degree within five (5) years of job entry date
- Current License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State
- 2+ years of ICU experience; Transplant, CRRT experience strongly preferred
