Job Summary
Oversee Certified Nursing Assistants and coordinate with the interdisciplinary team to assess, plan, and evaluate individualized care plans for residents. Conduct comprehensive assessments, monitor acute and chronic health changes, and administer medications per practitioner orders. Prepare charts for physician rounds, document visits, and initiate consultations or referrals as needed. Provide compassionate nursing care, assist with activities of daily living, and perform wound treatments or skin care. Participate in quality committees, infection control, and safety initiatives while maintaining accurate medical records. Work 7pm to 7am shifts at the Georgia War Veterans Home.
Required Qualifications
- current unencumbered active license to practice as an RN in the state
- ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language
- knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served
- supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of team work and team concept
- ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public
- knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures as well as laws regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care
- leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel
- ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality care
- patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents
- willingness to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing nursing practices
- ability to relate information concerning a resident's condition
- not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace
- nursing degree from an accredited college or university or be a graduate of an approved Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) program
- two (2) year(s) of experience as an RN
- training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices
- current unencumbered active license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Georgia
- ability to obtain and maintain an active American Heart Association BLS certification
- legally eligible to work in the United States
