Job Summary
Provide direct nursing care to patients in an inpatient hospice setting, conducting initial and ongoing assessments including vital signs and physical exams. Develop individualized care plans, administer medications as prescribed, and monitor patient status for changes in condition or pain response. Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members during daily rounds and care conferences to coordinate treatment. Document patient progress accurately in the electronic health record and provide education on disease management and self-care. Maintain compliance with the State Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards while ensuring patient safety and comfort. Requires a current RN license, CPR certification, and valid driver's license.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of one (1) year of recent acute care experience in an institutional setting
- Current RN license valid in the assigned state(s)
- Current CPR certification
- Valid driver's license with a reliable, insured vehicle, if required for operational needs
- Excellent observation skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Problem solving skills
- Basic math skills
- Visual acuity and hearing to perform required nursing skills
- Prolonged or considerable walking or standing capability
- Ability to lift, position and/or transfer patients
- Ability to lift supplies and equipment
- Physical capability for considerable reaching, stooping bending, kneeling and/or crouching
Desired Qualifications
- One (1) year of home care and/or Hospice experience
- English major
