Job Summary
Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department during night shifts, including triage, assessment, monitoring, and interventions. Apply the nursing process to develop and implement individualized care plans while monitoring patient conditions, vital signs, and telemetry. Administer medications, IV therapy, and emergency interventions per orders, and communicate patient status with physicians and the care team. Supervise LVNs/LPNs and nursing assistants as needed, maintain accurate EMR documentation, and ensure EMTALA compliance. Participate in emergency response, trauma resuscitation, and critical care stabilization to support patient safety initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Current and valid state RN License
- Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current
- Current ACLS certificate required upon hire and maintain current
- Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC required upon hire and maintain current
- Basic Arrythmia Interpretation required upon hire
- Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting; E.R. setting required
- In Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN within 12 months of hire and maintain current
- EDAP certified facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire
- Non-OB facilities: NRP certificate 90 days upon hire and maintain current
- Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) within 12 months of hire required
Desired Qualifications
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
