Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting conflicting data sets and synthesize interrelationships to formulate individualized plans of care. Support and empower patients and families through the healthcare continuum, advocating for their rights while addressing ethical, spiritual, and cultural needs. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, lead disciplines to meet desired outcomes, and serve as a clinical resource and mentor to healthcare team members. Document all patient care activities per standards and evaluate outcomes to contribute to performance improvement initiatives. Maintain self-development by obtaining six formal contact hours and completing required Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support or Pediatric Advanced Life Support certifications. This full-time night shift role rotates across NICU, PICU, PCICU, PIMC, PHOOT, and Peds Med-Surg units at Inova Fairfax Hospital, a national healthcare leader in safety and quality.
Required Qualifications
- Basic Life Support certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification (if Critical Care unit)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification (if Pediatric unit)
- Licensed Registered Nurse or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state Registered Nurse license
- 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse
- 1 year clinical experience as a Registered Nurse in a critical care setting (if Critical Care Unit) or completion of a critical care fellowship (if Critical Care Unit)
- Bachelor's Degree Nursing or Associate's Degree
- Meeting with nurse leader to identify accredited school plan (if RN has an Associate's Degree)
- Providing a written plan with anticipated BSN completion date (if RN has an Associate's Degree)
- Submitting a review of transcripts from the school indicating the required pre-requisites and timeline for taking the courses (if RN has an Associate's Degree)
- Completing BSN within 5 years of start date (if RN has an Associate's Degree)
