Job Summary

Respond to Rapid Response and Code Blue activations throughout the hospital by performing rapid clinical assessments, stabilizing deteriorating patients, and initiating appropriate interventions. Utilize early warning scoring systems and clinical judgment to identify patient decline, proactively round on high-risk patients, and provide consultation to bedside staff regarding concerning trends. Serve as a critical care resource for interdisciplinary teams, assisting with complex situations including respiratory distress, sepsis management, and hemodynamic instability. Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, and nursing leadership to ensure timely escalation of care, ICU consultation, or higher-level monitoring when indicated. Support initiatives to reduce preventable deterioration events, cardiac arrests outside the ICU, and unplanned ICU transfers by participating in event reviews and contributing to system-wide safety improvements. Provide real-time coaching and mentorship to bedside staff on emergency response protocols and critical care best practices. Ensure accurate documentation of interventions and outcomes while maintaining compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards. Requires current Alabama RN license, ability to work defined schedules including overtime, and regular attendance.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing meeting the minimum standards set by the state of Alabama
  • Current Alabama RN license
  • Current Multi-State RN License in accordance with Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) for Alabama
