Job Summary
Assess patients prior to surgery, prepare the operating room with supplies and equipment, and position patients on the operating table. Monitor vital signs, pass instruments to the surgeon, and maintain a high level of sterility throughout operative and invasive procedures. Review charts for completeness, troubleshoot equipment as needed, and communicate with the surgical team to ensure continuity of care. Adhere to all health and safety standards and aseptic techniques. Requires RN licensure, BLS certification, and two years of operating room experience. Includes a 40-hour rotational shift with a sign-on bonus.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Connecticut Department of Public Health obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date
- Associate Nursing degree
- Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date or job transfer date
- Current 2 years' experience as Operating Room Nurse
- Excellent knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques
- Solid understanding of patient safety and precautions
- In-depth knowledge of surgical operation procedures
- Critical thinker and problem solver
- Team Player
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- A great team player with excellent communication skills
- Must be available for 5 - 8hr 40 hour position
- Must be available for 1 Major/1 Minor Holiday
- Must be available for Rotational back up call
Desired Qualifications
- BSN
- Current 2 years' experience as Operating Room Nurse (scrub is a plus, not required)
