Registered Nurse (RN) - OR General Surgery

Job Summary
Assess patients prior to surgery, review charts for completeness, and prepare the operating room with supplies, implants, and instruments. Position and prepare patients on the operating table, monitor vital signs to detect anomalies, and pass medical instruments to the surgeon while maintaining sterility. Communicate with patients, teammates, and physicians to ensure continuity of care and adhere to all health and safety standards. Requires a licensed Registered Nurse with at least two years of operating room experience, BLS certification, and strong knowledge of aseptic techniques. Located at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Connecticut Department of Public Health obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date
- Associate Nursing degree
- Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date or job transfer date
- Current 2 years' experience as Operating Room Nurse
- Excellent knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques
- Solid understanding of patient safety and precautions
- In-depth knowledge of surgical operation procedures
- Critical thinker and problem solver
- Team Player
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- A great team player with excellent communication skills
