Registered Nurse (RN) - OR General Surgery

Job Summary
Assess patients prior to surgery, including NPO status and concerns, and prepare the operating room with supplies, implants, and instruments. Position and prepare the patient on the operating table, monitor vital signs to detect anomalies, and pass medical instruments to the surgeon when scrubbed. Review charts for completeness before and after procedures, maintain a high level of sterility, and troubleshoot equipment as needed. Adhere to all relevant health and safety standards and aseptic techniques. Requires a Licensed Registered Nurse with at least two years of OR experience, BLS certification, and a BSN preferred. Located at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport with a generous sign-on bonus.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Connecticut Department of Public Health obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date
- Associate degree
- Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date or job transfer date
- 2 years' experience as Operating Room Nurse
- Excellent knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques
- Solid understanding of patient safety and precautions
- In-depth knowledge of surgical operation procedures
- Critical thinker and problem solver

- A great team player with excellent communication skills
