Job Summary
Assess patients prior to surgery and prepare the operating room for procedures by organizing supplies, implants, and equipment. Review charts for documentation completeness before and after operations, then position patients on the table and monitor vital signs to detect anomalies. Maintain a high level of sterility by keeping the room clean, scrubbing to pass instruments to the surgeon, and troubleshooting equipment as needed. Adhere to all health and safety standards and aseptic techniques while communicating with patients, teammates, and physicians to ensure continuity of care.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Connecticut Department of Public Health obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date
- Associate Nursing degree
- Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date or job transfer date
- Current 2 years' experience as Operating Room Nurse
- Excellent knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques
- Solid understanding of patient safety and precautions
- In-depth knowledge of surgical operation procedures
- Critical thinker and problem solver
- Team Player
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- A great team player with excellent communication skills
