Registered Nurse (RN) - OR General Surgery

Job Summary
Assess patients prior to surgery for NPO status and concerns, prepare the operating room with supplies and instruments, and position patients on the operating table. Monitor vital signs to detect anomalies, troubleshoot equipment as needed, and pass medical instruments to the surgeon while maintaining a high level of sterility. Review charts for completeness before and after procedures and communicate with patients, teammates, and physicians to ensure continuity of care. Adhere to all health and safety standards and aseptic techniques. Requires a licensed Registered Nurse with at least two years of OR experience and BLS certification.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Connecticut Department of Public Health obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date
- Associate degree
- Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date or job transfer date
- 2 years' experience as Operating Room Nurse
- Excellent knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques
- Solid understanding of patient safety and precautions
- In-depth knowledge of surgical operation procedures
- Critical thinker and problem solver
- Team Player
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- A great team player with excellent communication skills
