Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and collaborate with the surgical team to define and implement individualized care plans. Perform all aspects of patient care, including scrubbing for surgical procedures, maintaining aseptic technique, and managing instrument counts. Administer medications adhering to the five rights and surgical services policies while documenting the nursing process and patient responses. Provide accurate condition reports for safe care transfers and interpret age-specific data to address patient needs. Function autonomously under stress, utilizing critical thinking for priority setting and delegation while mentoring colleagues. Requires a Connecticut RN license, CPR certification, and surgical or labor and delivery experience.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
- Must have and maintain current a Registered Nurse license in the State of Connecticut
- Must have certification in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) upon hire
- Previous surgical or labor and delivery, specifically assisting with C-sections, experience required
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Must demonstrate the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations
- Must demonstrate autonomous practice, consistent with evidence-based standards
- Must demonstrate knowledge of and assure maintenance of aseptic technique throughout the surgical procedure

- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan and the skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care to patients served
- Able to interpret data about the patient status in order to identify each patient's age-specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group
- Demonstrates ability to effectively function in the scrub role
