Job Summary
Perform comprehensive assessments and re-assessments of maternal and newborn conditions, including psychosocial, physical, educational, cultural, and spiritual aspects. Manage pain by utilizing appropriate tools, educating patients and families, and documenting interventions. Develop and evaluate individualized plans of care while involving patients in goal formulation. Administer medications adhering to the five rights and perform all aspects of patient care in Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, Well Newborn, Scrub, Circulator, and Level II Newborn roles. Monitor fetal heart rates, identify FHR patterns, and respond to early signs of inadequate newborn transition. Provide accurate patient condition reports for safe care transfer and serve as a professional mentor. Maintain fetal monitoring competencies through annual strip reviews or conferences.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
- Current licensure in the state of Connecticut
- Certification in ACLS
- Certification in NRP
- Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support
- Electric Fetal Monitoring Certification
- Previous LDRP experience
- Able to communicate effectively in English – both verbally and in writing
- Possesses basic computer skills
