Job Summary
Deliver safe, goal-directed patient care to families and patients in the Operating Room under general supervision. Utilize the nursing process to interact with the health care team and achieve desired results. Maintain 20/40 corrected vision, hearing acuity, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted while managing stressful situations. Work rotating shifts and overtime as required in a latex-safe environment. Earn an $18,000 sign-on bonus available to new hires with experience. The Medical University of South Carolina operates a 750-bed medical center including a nationally recognized Children's Hospital and is one of only three Magnet® designated hospitals in South Carolina.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in nursing
- Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider
- Ability to perform job duties while standing, sitting, walking, bending at the waist, twisting, squatting, reaching in all directions, reaching overhead, and performing repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, elbows, and shoulders
- Ability to climb stairs, work indoors, work outdoors in temperature extremes, work from elevated areas, work in confined or cramped spaces, and perform duties from kneeling positions
- Required hand and motor skills including pinching, gross motor activity, firm grasping, fine manipulation, full use of both legs, lower-extremity balance and coordination, and frequent fine motor movement
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. unassisted
- Ability to lift or lower 50 lbs. from the floor to 36 inches unassisted
- Ability to lift 25 lbs. from 36 inches to overhead
- Ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force
- 20/40 corrected vision in one eye or both eyes
- Ability to see and recognize objects near or far
- Ability to distinguish colors
- Ability to determine distance and depth perception
- Ability to maintain good peripheral vision
- Ability to maintain hearing acuity with correction
