Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive assessments of laboring mothers and newborns, including fetal monitoring, pain management, and vital signs. Assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries, administer medications, and provide immediate postpartum care to mothers and infants. Monitor patients during recovery, facilitate breastfeeding, and deliver Level II NICU interventions such as respiratory support and intravenous therapy. Educate families on newborn care, labor progress, and available resources while collaborating with physicians and midwives. Respond promptly to emergencies including fetal distress and newborn resuscitation. Maintain accurate documentation of all patient care activities and adhere to Joint Commission and CMS standards. Requires current Tennessee RN license, BLS and NRP certifications, and minimum two years of L&D/NICU experience. Surgical OB assist required with training available within 30 days.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree Diploma or Bachelor's Degree program in Nursing
- Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
- A minimum of 2 years of recent experience in L&D, PP and NICU Level II/Nursery area
- Recent experience in an acute care facility
- Experience with quality/performance improvement programs utilizing clinical pathways/guidelines
- Knowledge of the Joint Commission, CMS and other regulatory standards
- Ability to link quality of care/services to patient satisfaction, financial, and other statistical data
- Excellent computer and interpersonal skills
- Ability to educate staff and physicians effectively
- Surgical OB Assist
- BLS certification
- NRP certification
- AWHONN Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring certification
- S.T.A.B.L.E certification
- CPI certification
- ACLS certification
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in labor and delivery nursing, including surgical assisting
Desired Qualifications
- 2 years of recent experience in L&D, PP and NICU Level II/Nursery area
- Recent experience in an acute care facility
