Job Summary
Perform initial health screenings, physical assessments, and triage of newly detained individuals. Monitor and document patient vitals, manage acute and chronic conditions, and develop comprehensive care plans. Respond to medical emergencies, provide first aid, and coordinate timely transport to healthcare facilities. Educate patients on preventative care and substance abuse prevention while adhering to strict correctional security protocols. Maintain accurate medical records and ensure patient confidentiality. Work independently and collaboratively within a structured environment, maintaining physical stamina for patient lifting and long periods of standing.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, or related field, from an accredited college or university
- Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse within the state of NV
- Possess an active CPR certification
- Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
- Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Able to work independently and in a team
- Flexible schedule and availability to work overtime when needed
- Integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift
