Job Summary
Assess patient needs and initiate appropriate nursing interventions on a 14-bed Medical Surgical Unit. Provide care tailored to patient condition and age while performing timely documentation and revising Interdisciplinary Care Plans. Conduct QI assessments and collaborate with physicians, advanced practitioners, and CNAs to ensure patient comfort and safety. Maintain a 6:1 patient ratio in a collaborative environment utilizing a self-scheduling application. Work nights (7p-7a) on a 3x12 schedule with holidays and weekends required. Join Swain Community Hospital, a Lifepoint Health facility serving Western North Carolina for over 75 years.
Required Qualifications
- current North Carolina or compact state Registered Nurse license
- associate's degree from an accredited nursing school
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification
- AHA ACLS certification
- AHA PALS certification
- ability to work in a stressful environment
- ability to take appropriate action in a stressful environment
- critical thinking skills
- decisive judgment
- ability to work with minimal supervision
- availability for night shift (7p-7a)
- availability for holidays
- availability for weekends
