Job Summary
Assess and evaluate patients admitted to the hospital, taking physician orders and completing medication reconciliation in accordance with nursing standards. Document patient information, vital signs, and skin assessments while reporting signs of infection or medical instability to the physician. Walk patients to the unit and provide handovers to the unit nurse, working independently with populations ranging from children to seniors. Call the physician for admission orders and verify medications with patients, families, and pharmacy.
Required Qualifications
- Currently licensed to practice by the Massachusetts State Board of Nursing
- Graduate from an accredited RN program
- A minimum of three (3) years experience in a psychiatric facility
- Must pass a medication administration exam before administering medications
- CPR certification
- Successful completion of Management of Aggressive Behavior including restraint and seclusion policies, within 30 days of employment, and prior to assisting in restraining procedures
- Must have a working knowledge of the DSM-X
- Must have a working knowledge of the Mental Status Exam
- Must have a working knowledge of the Addiction and Recovery field
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Experience in a psychiatric facility
